story behind the og bog dogs

viking

The Og Bog Dogs evolved from stories I used to make up for my daughters, Gabrielle and Hanna, when they were young. G & H had an insatiable appetite for the stories and I was forced to tell them every night. They especially liked the rhyming and scary names. We would spot places like “Blood Death Valley” whilst we were walking on moors. The moors spawned the idea of Og Bog; the rhyming came as a way to make the stories interesting (humorous) for myself. Every night I would ‘rap’ out the stories making them up as I went along, inventing new derivatives of OG and more and more scary places and creatures. Over the past few years the raps have turned into stories. I have told them to other children, who have been equally captivated. Their parents who, likewise, found them enjoyable have urged me to put pen to paper.

We have tried several approaches for the Og Bog Dogs expanding and contracting the stories, aiming them at teenies, then older children. Having done this we are still not sure how they should be represented and which group of children would like them the most. That is why we need your help to give us an idea what you (Mums, Dads, Kids) think we should do.

We have several hopes in trying this approach:
1) We might come into to contact with someone who can help us get this project off the ground.
2) If we create enough interest we will publish the stories, tapes ourselves
